Three excellent shops within the Department of Chemistry ensure the high-quality design, fabrication, and repair of equipment and instrumentation.

The Electronics Shop's four staff members routinely construct printed circuit boards, build measurement circuits for many different functions, and design controllers to be used in a wide range of experiments. The Electronics Shop also stocks many electronic and computer parts and supplies for repair and construction.

The staff of four in the Machine Shop is involved in the design and fabrication of diverse equipment to specification, including ultrahigh vacuum systems, high-pressure vessels, and specialized measurement devices.
